Won’t typing the word Chapter 5 result in adding the words “Chapter 5″ to the compiled document? So that you get this: CHAPTER FIVE then your “Chapter 5.”
Thank you Lora. I was trying to figure a way to keep scene titles from showing up in my compile. I think we’re saying the same thing. Really, all it requires is to eyeball the Format section under All Options and checking Text, but nothing else. That way all you get is Chapter One, but not the scene name. Is that how you do it?
But, how? I found to my surprise that I had to go into COMPILE/ALL OPTIONS/FORMATTING and scrape my fingers once or twice before I got results. By no means is this a complaint, but I thought it might have shown up on one of their tutoring videos.
Yeah, I definitely had to fiddle with it, which is why I didn’t have the exact answer handy. You have to check/uncheck ‘title’ options in part of the sidebar. Maybe I’ll actually sit down with it and do a ‘compile’ post, because it is actually stupidly complicated.
Please forgive me for taking so long to get back. I’ve been editing/publishing a book of my poetry http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XUL8WE, as well as the novel, Six-Degree Conspiracy, which is teetering between agents and Kindle. Re: Compile. The fiddling worked. Scrivener’s connections to Mobi worked. What Scrivener needs to do in compile is to point writers to the “formatting” option and then clarify choices there, probably by adding an extra radio button. Easy for me to say.

Oh, no, you can control which titles get added in the compile settings.
